Daily Mirror Online - Dhaka - A total of 152 soldiers were sentenced to death in Bangladesh , Tuesday ( 5/11 ) for involvement in murder , rape , and arson , during the uprising in 2009 .

" The prisoners will be hanged by the neck until dead , " said Senior Judge Mohammad Akhteruzzaman in Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court , when reading the verdict on the 152 which is the border guard troops .

A total of 74 people , including 57 officers , were killed in a mutiny in the headquarters of Bangladesh border guards in Dhaka in February 2009 .

Investigators initially involved 850 people ensnare the rebellion, including 23 civilians , however , the court only run for 846 people . Therefore , four other suspects died in custody .

The soldier was indicted on charges of murder , rape , arson , looting weapons , and conspiracy .

" We 've been waiting for the verdict . Because it is necessary to clean up the tarnished image of the border forces by the massacre , " said Maj. Gen. Ahmed Aziz , who now leads the headquarters of the border .

At the 2009 uprising , thousands of armed soldiers Bangladesh Rifles (BDR ) took over their headquarters in the capital for two days and killing scores of people , including members of Bangladesh Army are stationed with the BDR .

The civilians involved in the case include former MP from the Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party Nasiruddin Ahmed Doors and Awami League leader Torab Ali .

Attorney Mosharrof Hossain Kazal told CNN , as many as 161 people , including doors and Ali , were sentenced to life imprisonment .

In addition , as many as 262 people were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from three years to 10 years and 271 exempt from the charges against them .

Sardar Shamim , an attorney for one of the suspects who was sentenced to death said it would appeal , because there is no justice .

Rebellion erupted less than two months after the Awami League government - led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina - came to power in January 2009 with a landslide victory .

According to the indictment , the border guards took weapons , killing the officers , border officials and the family hostage at an apartment complex staff at the headquarters of the border .

The dead included the head of the border guards , Major General Shakil Ahmed and his wife .
